Welcome to my blog!

Hi! My name is SaRah LaRue BoweRs, owner of LaRueBoweRs Photography, Inc. That’s right – INC. After having a twenty year love affair with cameras I finally decided to put my passion to work. The result is this company, incorporated on August 1, 2011. Congrats to me!

I received my first 110mm camera from my grandmother when I was in elementary school and I remember the tons and tons of film that I went through with that little thing! My grandmother upgraded me in middle school to my first 35mm. During a trip to Washington DC in eighth grade, I went through 8 rolls of 36 exp film in just the first two days! I had to photograph EVERYTHING in every possible way (plus, you never know what would come out with film). In college I received my first digital camera, but it was an early version of the “new” digitals and was awkward to use. I have no idea what brand or any of the stats on it but I DO know I ran that one into the ground pretty fast. My second digital point-and-shoot I received in 2005. It was a simple Kodak and I ran that puppy into the ground in two years. I took hundreds and thousands of pictures (as evidenced by my glorious collection of albums on KodakGallery.com). In 2007, I received an upgraded Kodak Z710 and, again, ran it into the ground (to be fair, this was the year I got married so there were TONS of photo ops! I joke that I took more pictures at my wedding than our photographers because someone let me get my hands on the camera! LOL).

In 2009, my husband and I found out we would be expecting a little baby girl and I was in complete panic. I needed to find a reliable camera that would allow me to catch the first roll over and the first steps, but with my history of running down cameras I knew that I couldn’t get just ANY camera. After researching for me, my husband and in-laws purchased a Pentax K-x for me for Christmas. This was my very first DSLR. I have since done my own research and have fallen in love with my new Canon 7D. The heart is still in the photos, but the quality is far superior.

I’ve learned a lot about photography over the years but I am always searching to learn more. As the motto says this, as life, is a “Work in Progress”. I look forward to working with you on your work in progress…
