Little Big Econ Trip

I work part time at an AMAZING photography store and LOVE when our customers come in and show us their photos. One customer in particular comes in with these beautiful shots from local parks and I’m simply in LOVE with his natural talent and the incredible photos he gets as a result. So I took a trip with my Canon 7D to Little Big Econ State Forest in Oviedo, Florida on his recommendation to see what I could see. Unfortunately, I’m not a very knowledgeable person when it comes to wildlife and the outdoors (and I pretty much get lost in a paper bag), so I didn’t venture to far into the forest on my own, but I did find a few cool shots. Will this family photographer turn into a landscape or macro maniac? Probably not. But it’s good to know that I have the option to shoot some pretty awesome things just s short drive from my home. Most of the time you’ll find me shooting subjects that smile, but every so often I get the urge to find other beauties. I’ve gotten a few photographs in Orlando, Tampa, and West Melbourne that I just had to share. I hope you enjoy these as much as I do!

Happy Birthday to Me!

I have started a tradition of going to Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom for my birthday. I remember my parents taking me on birthday when I was younger and the magic still captures me today. I’ve been reliving this tradition for 3 years now and know that I’ll be doing it for many years to come. As a photographer, you couldn’t ask for a better back drop to take photos. Everything you see is bright and beautiful making for beautiful landscapes and portraits. So each year I grab my Canon and head out to shoot to my heart’s content. This year’s visit got cut a bit short, but I did manage to grab some great pictures of both MK and Epcot before I had to head home.

I want to send a very special thank you to my husband for allowing me to escape every year to this magical land of fantasy! I love you, Adam, and appreciate all you have to do to cover for me while I’m away!

Baby Singh

One of my favorite things about being a photographer is working with little kids. This time, I got to work with my littlest subject: Baby AJ. I traveled out to Tampa to meet this little darling and simply fell in love! He is SUCH a cutie and is incredibly lucky to have 2 amazing parents (hopefully we’ll get a full family shoot on here soon!). Congratulations, Carrie and Dee! You did an AWESOME job!

Up, Up and A-waaaaaaay!

For those of you who are new, I have a bucket list. I don’t call it my “Bucket List” – right now it’s called the “30 things to do before 30″ list. In any case, on that list are many things (30 to be exact) but one of which is flying in a hot air balloon. I was able to realize this dream with thanks to one of my best friends, Chris McClure. On Easter Sunday I got to float up among the clouds (or, as our captain put it, I helped “GET IT UP”) across the Orlando skies. It was AMAZING! I want to give a big shout out to the AWESOME crew over at Thompson Aire in Kissimmee for the trip of a lifetime (and most importantly, for keeping us alive). I also want to thank my sister in law for trekking up above with me. And of course, a special thank you to Chris McClure for not only giving me one of the COOLEST Christmas gifts EVER, but for also waking up at the butt crack of dawn to be my eye on the ground! The LaRue Girls v 2.0

I am the oldest of 3 girls. My daughter is the youngest of 3 grand-daughters. That means I have PLENTY of BEAUTIFUL subjects to shoot! YAY FOR ME! Since all of our girls were born in March, we decided to do a birthday shoot with them…cake smash and all. I had a blast shooting with all my family. Big thanks to everyone for keeping the girls focused and a super big thanks to Chris McClure for playing the role of “Lighting Guy”. You rocked! I think these turned out FABULOUSLY!

Izzy’s 2nd Birthday Party

Being a photographer is awesome! You always get a front row seat to family events…unfortunately, you’d never know you were there because you’re never in the pictures. I realized when it came time to have my daughter’s first birthday party. Luckily, I was able to convince my father-in-law and sister to take over – and boy did they! This year my father-in-law came to the rescue again, as did pretty much every family member (I left my backup camera out and asked everyone to grab it if they saw a great photo op). The result is I got some fabulous photos and I’m actually in them! Below are a few of my favorites. I shot a few but I”m not sure who shot what of the rest. Whoever did, thanks for helping to document Izzy’s big day!

Time Exposure Fun

I work at a local camera store that offers a multitude of classes (as a matter of fact, I found out about the store BECAUSE of one of their classes). One of the classes that I’ve been uber excited about is the Time Exposure Field Trip. It’s a class that meets out on the river for some fabulous photo ops. Maddie’s 6th Birthday Party

March is a busy month for my family! My daughter, both of my nieces, my sister-in-law, father-in-law, AND grandmother-in-law (not to mention several friends) all have birthdays this month. That means my camera got a work out! On the 24th, I had the pleasure of attending my niece Madison’s 6th birthday party in Davie, Florida. It was a blast! The weather the beautiful, the setting was great and I think everyone had a blast! Happy happy, Maddie!
